Robert B. Haines received his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Princeton University in 1961 and his LL.B. from the University of Virginia in 1967. Mr. Haines earned his LL.M. in taxation from New York University in 1975. He is admitted to practice in the bars of the State of New Jersey, the United States District Court for the State of New Jersey and the United States Tax Court.
Prior to establishing his own practice in 2009, Mr. Haines was a partner at Herold and Haines in Warren, New Jersey for 25 years. Mr. Haines specializes in the areas of estate planning and administration, including the preparation of estate and inheritance tax returns, charitable planning, tax strategies related to business transactions as well as federal and state income tax matters, compliance and resolution of controversies. Robert has extensive experience in the drafting of wills, revocable trusts, insurance trusts, charitable trusts and shareholder agreements, in addition to the formation of corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships.
With regard to his professional affiliations, Mr. Haines served as the past Chairman of the Taxation Section of the New Jersey Bar Association as well as the Chairman of the State Income Tax Committee. He is currently the Vice Chairman of the Committee on Government Submissions of the American Bar Association as well as a member of the Committee on S Corporations. He previously served as the Chairman of the ABA Fiduciary Income Tax Committee and was a member of the Task Force on Passive Activities. He also served as past Chairman of the National Association of State Bar Tax Sections and has been a member of the Executive Board for 25 years. Additionally, he was member of the Internal Revenue Service Tax Advocacy Panel from 2006 - 2009. He is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel as well as a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Mr. Haines has been recognized as one of the top attorneys in New Jersey by New Jersey Super Lawyers Magazine for 2005 - 2010.
